أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّٰهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّٰهِ
Ashhadu an lā ilāha illā Allāh, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasūlu Allāh
“I bear witness that nothing has the right to be worshipped except Allāh, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allāh.”
The shahādah is a sincere testimony of faith.
All Your Past Sins Are Forgiven
المغفرة
The moment you accept Islam, every sin you committed before is wiped clean, no matter how many or how great.
Islam begins with a clean slate. When a person embraces Islam, Allah forgives all their previous sins: every lie, every wrong, every act of disobedience. You are reborn, as pure as the day you were created. Not a single bad deed from your past remains on your record. You start fresh, with nothing but good deeds ahead of you. This is not earned by years of effort or penance. It is a gift from Allah to the one who turns to Him.
“Do they not know that it is Allah who accepts repentance from His servants and receives charities and that it is Allah who is the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful?”
Surah at-Tawbah 9:104
“Say: O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.”
Surah az-Zumar 39:53
“Islam obliterates what came before it (of sins).”
Sahih Muslim 121
Your Good Deeds Are Multiplied
ضاعفة الحسنات
Every good deed you do as a Muslim is recorded and multiplied: Allah increases rewards from ten to seven hundred times and beyond.
In Islam, good deeds are not counted one-for-one. A single good action (feeding the hungry, helping a neighbor, even a smile) is recorded as ten good deeds minimum, and Allah multiplies for whom He wills up to seven hundred times or more. A bad deed, however, is recorded as only one. This means the scales are tilted in your favor from the very beginning. The more you worship Allah and serve His creation, the more your rewards compound, not just in this life, but stored for eternity in the Hereafter.
“Whoever brings a good deed will have ten times the like thereof, and whoever brings an evil deed will not be recompensed except the like thereof, and they will not be wronged.”
Surah al-Anʿām 6:160
“Whoever intends a good deed and does it, Allah records it as ten good deeds up to seven hundred times, or many times over. Whoever intends a bad deed and does it, Allah records it as one sin.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 6491, Sahih Muslim 131
Eternal Life in Paradise
الجنة
The ultimate reward: a life of endless peace, joy, and closeness to Allah, with no death, no pain, no sorrow.
Paradise (Jannah) is the final home of the believer. It is a place beyond imagination: gardens beneath which rivers flow, palaces of gold and pearls, reunions with loved ones, and the pleasure of Allah Himself. There is no death, no illness, no sadness, no fatigue. Every desire is fulfilled, and every blessing is eternal. The greatest reward is not the physical delights. It is seeing Allah and being pleased with Him, and Him being pleased with you. This is the promise given to every person who says the Shahādah and strives to live by it.
“No soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do.”
Surah as-Sajdah 32:17
“And Paradise will be brought near to the righteous, not far. It will be said: This is what you were promised, for every penitent and heedful one.”
Surah Qāf 50:31–32
“Allah has promised the believing men and believing women gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally, and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence, but approval from Allah is greater. It is that which is the great attainment.”
Surah at-Tawbah 9:72
“Whoever says: There is no god but Allah, and has in his heart the weight of a grain of faith, will come out of the Fire.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 6560
Safety From the Hellfire
النجاة من النار
Even a grain of faith in your heart is enough for Allah to eventually bring you out of the Fire and into Paradise.
Allah's mercy is not limited. Even if a person enters the Fire due to their sins, anyone who has even a grain of faith, who declared the Shahādah sincerely, will not remain there forever. Allah will bring them out, purify them, and enter them into Paradise. This is how vast Allah's mercy is. The Shahādah is a shield. It does not mean a Muslim will never sin, but it means that sin, no matter how much, cannot permanently sever the bond between a sincere servant and his Lord. Repentance is always open, and Allah never tires of forgiving.
“Whoever says: There is no god but Allah, and has in his heart the weight of a grain of faith, will come out of the Fire.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 6560
“There will come out of the Hellfire whoever has said: There is no god but Allah, and has in his heart goodness equal to the weight of a grain of barley; then whoever has in his heart goodness equal to the weight of a grain of wheat; then whoever has in his heart goodness equal to the weight of a speck of dust.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 7510
“Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills.”
Surah an-Nisā' 4:48
Inner Peace in This Life
الطمأنينة
Knowing your purpose, trusting your Creator, and letting go of anxiety: Islam brings a peace that the world cannot give.
Before Islam, a person may feel lost: searching for meaning, anxious about the future, weighed down by regret. Islam answers the deepest questions: Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going? When you know that Allah is in control, that everything happens by His wisdom, and that your efforts are never wasted, the heart finds rest. You stop chasing the temporary and start investing in the eternal. You stop fearing people and start fearing only Allah. This is the tranquility (ṭuma'nīnah) that comes with faith, a calm that hardship cannot shake and wealth cannot buy.
“Those who believe and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah: indeed, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.”
Surah ar-Raʿd 13:28
“Whoever Allah guides, he is rightly guided. And whoever He sends astray, you will not find for them protectors apart from Him.”
Surah al-Kahf 18:17
“How wonderful is the case of a believer: there is good for him in whatever happens. If good befalls him, he is grateful, and that is good for him. If hardship befalls him, he is patient, and that is good for him.”
Sahih Muslim 2999
A Global Family
الأمة
The moment you accept Islam, you join a brotherhood and sisterhood of nearly two billion people, united by faith, not by race or borders.
Islam erases the divisions of race, class, and nationality. When you become Muslim, you are family. You share the same prayer, the same book, the same direction, and the same Lord. Wherever you travel in the world, you will find a masjid and a community ready to welcome you as their own. The bond between believers is not based on blood or benefit. It is based on faith. This is the ummah of Muhammad ﷺ, a community that has existed for over 1,400 years and stretches across every continent. You are never alone.
“The believers are but brothers, so make reconciliation between your brothers. And fear Allah that you may receive mercy.”
Surah al-Ḥujurāt 49:10
“The example of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for one another is like that of one body: when one limb suffers, the rest of the body responds with sleeplessness and fever.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 6011, Sahih Muslim 2586
